Valery Zaluzhnyi Unable to Continue Service in Ukrainian Army
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhnyi, will be unable to continue his service due to injuries sustained from a Russian missile strike. This information has been confirmed by a representative of Russian power structures and reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the statement, Zaluzhnyi suffered closed craniocephalic and multiple shrapnel injuries earlier in May near the village of Posad-Pokrovskoye in Kherson as a result of missile attacks. He underwent a craniotomy at a military hospital in Kyiv.
The spokesperson noted that the Commander-in-Chief's condition has worsened as he is also suffering from Type 2 diabetes. "The situation is such that he will survive, but he will not be able to perform his duties," he added.
The first questions regarding Zaluzhnyi's condition and whereabouts arose after NATO announced on May 10 that he had informed them that he couldn't address members of the military committee, even via video link.
