Trump Threatens EU with Retaliatory Measures Over Google Fine

US President Donald Trump has labeled the European Commission's €2.95 billion fine against American company Google as "unfair" and threatened the European Union with retaliatory measures. "The EU must immediately stop this behavior towards American companies," he wrote on his Truth Social platform, also mentioning Apple, which has faced multiple fines from EU regulators.

According to the White House chief, Brussels is jeopardizing US jobs and investments with its "discriminatory actions" against American companies. If the fines remain in effect, Trump has promised to initiate a procedure under Section 301, which provides for retaliatory measures, including tariffs, against countries that pursue negative trade policies for the US.

It is worth noting that the European Commission has accused Google of having a monopoly in the online advertising market. Brussels claims that since 2014, Google has been using its services to the detriment of competitors, which violates Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
