Criminal Prosecution Against Surik Khachatryan's Son Has Been Terminated
The criminal prosecution against Tigran Khachatryan, son of the former governor of Syunik, Surik Khachatryan, has been terminated. This announcement was made by lawyer Benik Galstyan on his Facebook page.
“Today we received a decision from the head of the relevant department of the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia, stating that the criminal prosecution against Tigran Surik Khachatryan under Part 2 of Article 225 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (violence by a participant in mass disorder) has been suspended on the grounds that Tigran did not commit the act attributed to him. The charges were related to incidents that occurred on May 30, 2022, near the third building of the Armenian government. Thus, it has been officially confirmed that the criminal prosecution against Tigran Khachatryan, including his two-month detention, was solely and exclusively politically motivated. I am more than confident that those who initiated, designed, executed, and benefited from this persecution will be held accountable sooner or later,” Galstyan wrote.
