Ukraine Will Respond to Russia's Attacks on Our Energy Sector, Zelensky
“Ukraine is reacting to Russia’s strikes on our energy facilities and will respond. We genuinely want the war to end. But no one can simply endure in darkness,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference with Slovak Prime Minister Ficco.
On August 27, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported that Russia is resuming joint strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure ahead of the winter of 2025, likely attempting to undermine Kyiv's resolve to resist Russian aggression.
Earlier, media reported that Putin called on Eastern European countries to stop gas and oil supplies to Ukraine during a meeting with the Slovak Prime Minister. According to Putin, Moscow has “tolerated for a long time the strikes by Ukrainians on Russian energy infrastructure and has now begun to respond seriously.” He also insisted that if European countries were to cease supplies of gas and oil to Ukraine, Ukrainians would “immediately understand that there are certain limitations regarding violations of others' interests.”
