Trump Announces Plans to Call Putin Soon
U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that he plans to speak with Russian leader Vladimir Putin soon. He made this statement to reporters at the White House, as reported by C-SPAN.
A reporter asked Trump whether he planned to speak with Putin soon. "Yes, I will call. We had a very good dialogue," the American leader responded.
Later, CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins, citing White House sources, reported that Trump had previously indicated plans to call Ukrainian leaders instead of Putin. As she clarified, the conversation between Trump and Zelensky will take place today.
The day before, Trump expressed disappointment with Putin and threatened to reconsider the U.S. position if no progress is made in resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
On the same day, the Russian president announced that Zelensky could come to Moscow for negotiations. Zelensky had previously proposed neutral locations such as Turkey or Switzerland. The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that a meeting between the two leaders could only occur if there is a "presidential agenda," but none currently exists.
