Israel Not Prepared for War with Turkey, Says Israeli Colonel
“Israel is categorically not prepared for a possible war with Turkey; I hope we do not reach that point,” said Colonel Eran Lerman, who has served in the Israel Defense Forces for around 20 years and currently heads the Institute for Strategy and Security in Jerusalem.
Lerman emphasized that the Israeli army is distinctly not ready to engage in conflict with the Turkish army, which is the second largest in NATO. He noted the immense size of Turkish ground forces and stressed that Israel should avoid such a confrontation.
He also highlighted how Turkey’s defense industry, particularly the Bayraktar drones, has changed the balance of power in the region. Lerman did not rule out that Israel might employ Azerbaijan as a tool to exert influence over Turkey.
It is worth mentioning that there are concerns in Turkey about the possibility of an Israeli attack in the future. Earlier reports indicated that Turkey may be preparing for military operations in Syria.
