The Secretary General of the Council of Europe Addresses the South Caucasus

The Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alen Berset, addressed the South Caucasus among other global developments during a meeting of the Committee of Ministers. He welcomed the declaration signed between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington on August 8, calling it a "potential turning point."

"The implementation of the provisions of the declaration could transform the region, bringing reconciliation, stability, and prosperity. This peace must be built on our values of democracy, human rights, and the rule of law. The Council of Europe will support Armenia and Azerbaijan on the path to peace," said the Secretary General.
