Vigen Euljekjyan in Baku Prison on Hunger Strike for 20 Days
The family of Vigen Euljekjyan, who was captured during the 44-day war in 2020, reports that he has been on a hunger strike in Baku prison for 20 days. His wife, Lusiana Minasian, specifically wrote: “Vigen Euljekjyan's family is filled with deep sorrow. Instead of receiving good news about his long-awaited release, the call received from Baku today revealed that he has been on a hunger strike for 20 days. What should have been a moment of hope has turned into unbearable sadness and fear.”
It is worth recalling that on November 10, 2020, the day after the ceasefire agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Vigen was captured by Azerbaijani special forces while gathering his personal belongings to evacuate from Shushi, in Nagorno-Karabakh, which they had advanced into. He was a civilian who was abducted and illegally transferred to a Baku prison, where he spent nearly seven months incommunicado.
