Syria Exports Oil for the First Time in 14 Years
Syria has exported oil for the first time in 14 years, according to a report by Reuters. A shipment of 600,000 barrels of crude oil has been delivered as part of an agreement with a trading company. The resumption of exports became possible this August, coinciding with the lifting of U.S. restrictions.
The Syrian Ministry of Energy emphasized that this move is crucial for revitalizing the oil sector and expanding the country's cooperation horizons with global companies. New shipments are expected to follow in the near future.
It is worth noting that since the onset of the crisis in 2011 and the imposition of Western sanctions, Syria has been unable to export oil for over a decade.
