What is the Foreign Minister's Involvement in the Criminal Case of Thefts from the Genocide Museum-Institute?

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, during her latest press conference, attempted to conceal her ignorance and inaction behind aggression; however, the shortcomings and failures in her sector have not gone unnoticed by the public. This was reported by the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper.

The issue at hand is that around 20 valuable books were stolen from the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute years ago. The former director had expressed suspicions that the theft was carried out by graduate students, as was conveyed by the newly appointed director, Haik Demoyan. Demoyan had filed a report and was subsequently questioned within the framework of the case he initiated.

On August 27, during Zhanna Andreasyan's press conference, in response to a question from the "Zhoghovurd" newspaper regarding what she is doing as a minister to recover the 19 valuable books, the minister stated that she was unaware of the issue and does not comment on preliminary investigations; she could not provide any information regarding the case. The newspaper reported that the Investigative Committee of Armenia did not effectively respond to their inquiries.

In response to the inquiry regarding the apparent theft at the "Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute," it was stated: "A criminal case has been initiated and is being investigated in the relevant division of the RA Investigative Committee, within which necessary investigative and procedural actions have been carried out, including appointing a forensic and cultural investigation, and the body conducting the proceedings has appealed to foreign partners for legal assistance. The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing, and the data of interrogated individuals and the content of the factual data obtained are considered pre-investigation secrecy in accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia. At the current stage of the criminal proceedings, there is no one with the status of a defendant," the response mentioned.
