Armenia and Pakistan Establish Diplomatic Relations
A joint communiqué has been signed on establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and Pakistan. The information was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs press service.
Notably, the communiqué was signed by the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammad Ishaq Dar, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit held in Tianjin, China.
"The governments of the two countries seek to develop friendly relations in accordance with the principles of the UN Charter, including mutual respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, exclusion of aggression, non-interference in each other's internal affairs, equality, mutual benefit, and peaceful coexistence," the statement reads.
The governments of Armenia and Pakistan have agreed to exchange representatives and provide each other with necessary support for the implementation of diplomatic relations based on mutuality, in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and international customary practices.
During the conversation, Ararat Mirzoyan discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation with Mohammad Ishaq Dar. Referring to regional developments, Mirzoyan presented Armenia's efforts aimed at establishing sustainable peace in the South Caucasus and emphasized that peace has been established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, congratulated the Armenian Foreign Minister.
Minister Mirzoyan also addressed other agreements reached on August 8 in Washington. The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Pakistan exchanged views on issues of cooperation in multilateral platforms, including the UN and SCO.
