Rubinyan to Opposition: You’ve Come to Defend Kocharyan's $200 Million
During his speech regarding the Anti-Corruption Committee's activities in 2025, Ruben Rubinyan, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, addressed opposition MPs, proposing that they ask their "boss's boy" about the state’s demands in total of $200 million worth of assets from Robert Kocharyan and his father, which is considered to be illegally obtained. "Do you know why you won’t ask? Because you aren’t that strong, because he is your boss's boy. You are the junior partners of your boss's junior partners. Have you ever heard something like this in the world, that a hunter of illegal property, as Ms. Grigoryan presents herself, comes to the head of the Anti-Corruption Committee and asks why last year this much million was brought back to the budget and not this much? You all go to your boss and say, '200 million is enough, don’t count on extending it, you won’t win the elections, go and pay it to the budget.' We are waiting, bring back the 200 million to the budget.
They come and say, ‘Why are you fighting against corruption?’ The corruption you’re talking about isn’t corruption, because we engaged in it. You are defenders of corruption, do you understand? Because you have come to defend Kocharyan's $200 million. You have no other function,’” said Rubinyan, addressing the opposition.
