Trump Attends First Rally After Assassination Attempt

Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, announced at his first rally since a recent assassination attempt that he has received a "bullet for democracy." He stated, "Those who say I am a threat to democracy, what have I done to democracy? Last week I received a bullet for democracy," Trump said.

The former president appeared at the rally without the white bandage he wore while speaking at the Republican National Convention following his injury. His wound is now covered with a flesh-colored band-aid.

He recounted receiving a "wonderful letter" from Chinese President Xi Jinping after the assassination attempt and noted that he had "very good relations with Xi" during his presidency.

On July 13, during Trump's campaign rally in Pennsylvania, gunfire erupted. The former president was injured in his right ear. One audience member died, and two others were injured. The shooter was killed by Secret Service agents.

According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the shooter was 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks. Trump made his first public appearance after the assassination attempt on July 15 at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where he was nominated as the party's presidential candidate. The former president approached delegates to the tune of Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" with his bandaged ear.
