Court Rules Most of Trump's Tariffs Illegal
A federal appeals court in Columbia has ruled that most of the import tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump against foreign nations are considered illegal.
The decision was made with a vote of 7 in favor and 4 against. The court has left the tariffs in effect until October 14 to allow the U.S. presidential administration to appeal to the Supreme Court.
President Donald Trump, commenting on the court's decision on the social media platform Truth Social, emphasized that removing the tariffs would be “a complete disaster for the country.”
“It will weaken us financially, and we need to be strong. The U.S. can no longer tolerate the enormous trade deficit, unfair tariffs, and trade barriers imposed by other countries, both friends and foes. These hinder our producers, farmers, and everyone. If this decision stays in place, it will literally obliterate the United States,” Trump wrote.
