A New System for Temporary Disability and Maternity Benefits Set to Launch on September 1
A new system for the calculation, designation, and payment of temporary disability and maternity benefits will come into effect on September 1, as announced by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.
Under the new regulations, paper disability certificates will no longer be issued. In the event of disability (including those stemming from pregnancy and childbirth), individuals will need to contact the appropriate medical organization, where an electronic disability certificate will be created in their name. This certificate will be processed and made available to the relevant parties through the system launching on September 1.
Based on the data received, the benefits will be automatically calculated, after which the amount payable from the state budget of Armenia will be transferred for payment. Additionally, information regarding the amount to be paid by the employer will be communicated to the employer via the State Revenue Committee (SRC). This will allow the employer to pay the benefit amount that falls under their responsibility (for the first 7 days of disability) along with the upcoming salary payment to the employee.
