The Epic Response of the CPP and 'Republicanism': Daniel Ioannisyan
The epic response of the CPP and 'Republicanism': Let's momentarily set aside the fact that, according to the recordings, the mayor of Spitak instructed subordinates to gather votes for the elections in Yerevan, and purely discuss the responses from the CPP.
Daniel Ioannisyan, program coordinator of the 'Informed Citizens' Union' NGO, wrote on his Facebook page: 'Thus, while the CPP members in Yerevan claim that it is normal for the heads of the Spitak community and its villages to register voters in favor of the CPP (ignoring that this is done under orders from their superior), the community servants of Spitak are completely denying that such actions are taking place. Can you imagine? The local political figures are so cynical that they deny the fact of registration, even though we have released recordings and images of the lists that irrefutably prove this.'
This denial is not surprising. Just yesterday, we learned that Gevorg Papoyan, the Deputy Chairman of the CPP Council (who has erased his previous biography as a former member of the Republican Party of Armenia), issued an order to deny it... and they are categorically denying it. Simply put, another Deputy Chairman of the CPP, Vahagn Aleksanyan, perhaps unaware of the categorical denial that was about to take place, referred to these Spitak residents as 'political figures engaged in politics'. Well, according to Mr. Aleksanyan, engaging in politics seems to entail flat-out lying (the obvious truth being the categorical denial).'
Note: Unlike some 'political figures', we consistently mention that the investigation revealed not illegal pressures on voters but merely abuses of administrative leverage for propaganda (unlike the 2017 investigation into the '114 directors').
Postscript: Although the nature of the revelations was different, I suggest that those interested compare the responses of the CPP deputy chairmen today with the reactions of the Republican Party deputy chairmen during the '114 directors' investigation in 2017.
And one more thing: Tell Gevorg Papoyan that his former party (the Republican Party) also sued us over the investigation with the recordings. He can ask Ashotyan how that legal case turned out.'
