Minister of Foreign Affairs Asks How a Map Could Be in a Peace Agreement
Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan questioned how a map could be included in a peace agreement during an interview with Petros Ghazaryan in Syunik. He remarked, "Could someone explain how a map should be part of a peace agreement? These are different matters."
"The map was discussed. I know that one of those who claimed such a thing was also present at some stage of the negotiations. I am quite surprised that this person, who seemed to be intelligent, did not distinguish that two different issues were being addressed in the same room by the same two delegations during different sessions: the text of the peace agreement and maps related to delimitation," he added.
He continued, "You may recall that there was significant public attention drawn to the fact that the American side provided a more complete package of maps from 1975 to both sides. Thus, being there and seeing that these are two separate issues, and now saying that there is no map in the agreement raises some astonishment," without elaborating on whom he was alluding to.
