Two Officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs Received Bribes

The Anti-Corruption Committee has reported: "As a result of the evidence and procedural actions carried out within the framework of the criminal proceedings examined by the RA Anti-Corruption Committee, it has been established that two employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' Economic Department, having previously agreed and acting as a group, used their official powers to receive bribes for sponsorship and illegal actions in favor of the director of a commercial organization.

In particular, the investigation revealed that the aforementioned officials accepted, in exchange for a bribe, the proposal to declare the said commercial organization the winner in the tender for the installation of gas safety signaling systems for heating systems installed in 150 subdivisions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on February 22, 2025. Subsequently, they demanded 10% of the installation cost of one unit of the system, which was 96,000 AMD, amounting to 9,600 AMD, as a bribe from the company's director.

Additionally, one of the mentioned officials received a bribe from the director of another commercial organization to ensure that it was declared the winner in the relevant tender for the procurement of material resources for the needs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in 2024.

Charges have been brought against the officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs under Article 435, Part 2, Points 1 and 3 of the RA Criminal Code, and under Part 3 of Article 435, while the director of the organization that offered the bribe has been charged under Article 436, Part 2, Point 3 and Points 1 and 3 of the RA Criminal Code. The pre-trial investigation of the criminal proceedings has been completed, and the materials of the case have been sent to the RA Anti-Corruption Court with an accusatory conclusion."
