The Declaration Signed in Washington Enhances Trust Among Countries in Our Region, Mustafaev

The signed joint declaration emphasizes the importance of opening communications between Azerbaijan and Armenia. This was announced by Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafaev during a special government session dedicated to the outcomes of the President’s visit to Washington.

He noted that a strategic component of the project for Azerbaijan is ensuring unimpeded transit through Nakhchivan. “The opening of a new corridor will serve this purpose. The new corridor passing through Zangezur, which is vital for connectivity between Europe and Asia, will contribute to economic growth. The corridor is not just an infrastructural project; it will have a higher capacity as an alternative to existing routes. The transport capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway has been increased to 5 million tons annually,” he stated.

Mustafaev also pointed out that the opening of communications presents a historic opportunity for the region. “The implementation of the documents signed in Washington will ensure not only the opening of communications but also trust between the countries in our region,” declared Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafaev.
