Renovation Works at the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex Underway

For nearly two months, the second phase of renovation works at the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute has commenced, focusing on the restoration of the tilted pillars of the Temple of Eternity and the roof of the administrative building. During the renovation of the Armenian Genocide Memorial, both the museum and the memorial complex will remain open to visitors and official delegations. This information was announced in an official statement by the "Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute."

“To achieve this goal, the pillars are being renovated sequentially, and work is currently underway on the restoration of the first two pillars. As a result of these efforts, the issue of water drainage that has plagued the pillars for decades will be resolved, alleviating the risk of stone collapses, while the roofs of the administrative and museum buildings will no longer face rainwater ingress issues,” the statement said.

It is noteworthy that last year, the first phase included improvements to the irrigation system of the green areas adjacent to the Armenian Genocide Memorial, with a drip irrigation system launched in the Yeghevnid Park. The architectural team overseeing the renovation is led by Honored Architect of Armenia Sashur Kalashyan, who is one of the co-authors of the design of the Armenian Genocide Memorial and Museum-Institute.

Additionally, a social media user recently posted a photo showing the damaged and covered pillars of the Temple of Eternity. It is worth mentioning that renovation work at the Armenian Genocide Memorial was first announced in October of last year. For the renovation works, allocations have been made from the state budget of Armenia, totaling around 743 million AMD.
