Zelensky Jokes About Attacks on Druzhba Oil Pipeline by Ukraine's Armed Forces
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has joked about the attacks carried out by Ukraine's Armed Forces (ZSU) on the Druzhba oil pipeline. His remarks were quoted by the Ukrainian publication Strana.ua.
"We have always supported the friendship between Ukraine and Hungary, and now the existence of that 'friendship' depends on Hungary," he stated, referring to the veto imposed by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban on discussing Ukraine's potential EU membership.
It is noteworthy that on August 22, Ukrainian drones again attacked the Druzhba oil pipeline, which transports oil from Russia to Slovakia and Hungary. As a result of the attack, oil supplies to these countries will be halted for at least five days.
At the end of June, during the EU summit held in Brussels, Hungary blocked a joint statement supporting the initiation of Ukraine's EU membership negotiations. Orban has maintained a similar stance at the NATO summit, where the issue of Ukraine's membership was not discussed. He referred to Ukraine as an "uncertain entity" with ambiguous borders and unable to ensure its own security.
Previously, the European Commission confirmed receipt of a letter concerning 'Friendship' from Hungary and Slovakia.
