EU Transfers €4.05 Billion to Ukraine Ahead of Independence Day
The European Union has transferred €4.05 billion to Ukraine on the eve of the country's 34th Independence Day. This is stated in a press release from the European Commission.
“This new funding underscores our commitment not only to Ukraine’s recovery but also to its future as a sovereign and democratic country,” emphasized European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
As noted by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, €3.05 billion has been allocated under the Ukraine Facility program for the country’s recovery, while another €1 billion comes from the ERA Loans initiative, financed by revenues from frozen Russian assets.
“This support strengthens both the state budget and the recovery process. Thank you to our European partners,” Svyrydenko wrote on her Telegram channel.
The European Commission’s statement also mentions that since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, the EU and its member states have provided Ukraine with a total of €168.9 billion in humanitarian, financial, and military assistance.
