Demand from the Sasna Tsrer to the Authorities: Statement

The Secretariat of the Sasna Tsrer Pan-Armenian Party has issued a statement: "Citizen of the Republic of Armenia Vitaly Balasanyan has repeatedly made declarations containing threats of retribution and physical violence on behalf of himself and the entire fifth column. It is extremely concerning and perplexing that the law enforcement bodies of the Republic of Armenia have not yet taken any steps to verify the potential for these threats to be realized and to prevent their possible execution against citizens and the state. Furthermore, they exhibited complete inaction even when Vitaly Balasanyan ostentatiously refused to appear for questioning in the March 1 case, and former police chief Haik Harutyunyan, who possessed significant information regarding the case, was killed or driven to suicide.

Emboldened by this unprecedented state of impunity, on October 8, 2019, Vitaly Balasanyan, during another interview with LiveNews.am, again effectively representing the fifth column, issued direct threats regarding a coup d'état, as well as the physical extermination of representatives of the Republic of Armenia's authorities and members of our organization.

In light of the above, and considering the fact that law enforcement bodies are paralyzed, we demand that the authorities demonstrate the necessary political will and instruct law enforcement to fulfill their direct duty and neutralize the real threats to the state’s security and citizens’ lives. The collective source of those threats is the well-known fifth column, including Robert Kocharyan, Serzh Sargsyan, the Stepanakert regime, various Balasanyans, and Vanetsyans. Therefore, not only Robert Kocharyan but all of them, as a criminal organization established and operating for the purpose of committing particularly serious crimes against national interests and human beings, must be isolated and subjected to criminal prosecution without delay."
