Hamas Sets Conditions for Release of Israeli Hostages Held in Gaza
The Palestinian Hamas movement has informed international mediators that it has approved a new proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This was reported by Euronews.
Hamas has also agreed to release half of the Israeli hostages held in Gaza in exchange for several Palestinian prisoners, stating that the exchange will occur within the framework of a 60-day ceasefire.
"The proposal from Egyptian and Qatari mediators, which has been accepted by Hamas, also includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from deep within Gaza to ensure unrestricted access for humanitarian aid," the statement said.
It should be noted that the proposal presented by Hamas is a framework agreement to start negotiations for a long-term ceasefire. The plan also incorporates points previously proposed by the United States, including a 60-day ceasefire and a two-phase release of hostages.
