Discussion on Closure of Minsk Group in Response to Joint Appeal by Azerbaijan and Armenia

Finland, as the current president of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), will conduct discussions with participating states in response to the joint call from Azerbaijan and Armenia to close the Minsk process and related structures. This was announced by the organization’s main office to Azerbaijani media.

In turn, the OSCE Secretariat is prepared to implement all decisions made as a result of these discussions, an official representative of the organization stated.

The OSCE confirmed that a joint appeal was received from Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 11, proposing to the Council of Ministers to resolve the issue of closing the Minsk Group and other related bodies.

“We welcome the agreements signed on August 8 in Washington, congratulate Armenia and Azerbaijan on this achievement, and greatly appreciate the role of the U.S. administration in facilitating this process,” emphasized the organization.

According to the organization’s official representative, the OSCE continues to remain committed to all efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

In addition to the three co-chair countries—the USA, Russia, and France—the group also includes Belarus, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Finland, Sweden, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
