Tehran Welcomes Armenia and Azerbaijan's Step, but Opposes Interference from Non-Regional Forces: Iranian Vice President
The Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasizing the importance of strengthening peace and stability in the region, welcomes the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was announced by Iran's First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref during a session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
“By expressing our unwavering position regarding respect for the territorial integrity of the countries, we find that the interference of foreign states in the affairs of the region does not contribute to stable security,” Aref continued.
It is worth reminding that the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council session is taking place in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, from August 14-15. The heads of the governments of the EEU “five” will discuss issues related to trade, customs regulations, the development of transport infrastructures, the formation of common oil and gas markets, the development of pharmaceutical and medical product markets, and more.
The Eurasian Economic Union is an international integration economic union that has been in operation since January 1, 2015. Its members are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan.
