As Long as We Are in Power, Armenia Will Not Pursue the Return of Residents of Nagorno-Karabakh: Julhakyan
The Republic of Armenia and our party do not have such an agenda regarding the collective return of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh. If there are individuals who wish to return to Azerbaijan, they can attempt to do so individually. However, we do not consider the return of Nagorno-Karabakh residents to Azerbaijan to be realistic. This was stated by Arusyak Julhakyan, a member of the Civil Contract party.
“Because there are no international mechanisms in place, there are no guarantees. Those promising such a thing should honestly say that it can only happen under the flag of Azerbaijan. Even if they return, they will be returning as citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Republic of Armenia has already put itself under excessive pressure regarding the entire negotiation process of Nagorno-Karabakh. It is also because of this that we ended up in a situation where our sovereign territory came under attack. We were no longer able to defend ourselves, let alone Nagorno-Karabakh. As long as we are in power, the Republic of Armenia will not pursue the return of residents of Nagorno-Karabakh,” said Julhakyan.
