EU to Support Final Signing of Peace Agreement Between Armenia and Azerbaijan: President of the European Council
The European Union remains committed to supporting the implementation of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was stated by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, in a recent post on his microblog, referring to the preliminary signing of the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on August 8 in Washington.
He noted that he has had very positive phone conversations this week with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
"The historical preliminary signing of the 'Peace and Establishment of Interstate Relations' agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is a significant step towards lasting peace for both countries and the broader region. The EU remains fully committed to supporting its implementation and strengthening regional ties, helping societies overcome years of conflict and moving towards lasting peace, stability, and prosperity," said Antonio Costa.
