Armenians Consider All Red Lines of Iran When Signing Agreement, Says Abbas Araghchi

The developments regarding roads in the South Caucasus are entirely different from what was supposed to happen. This was stated by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, commenting on the agreements reached in Washington regarding the "Trump Route" involving Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, as reported by Tasnim agency.

"I am not saying that what is happening is not concerning. Based on what Armenian officials have told us, this road is to be built by an American company that will be registered under Armenian law and will be under Armenian sovereignty. The Armenians have told us that they have considered and paid attention to all of Iran's red lines in this regard," Araghchi said.

The diplomat added that according to Armenian officials, "American forces will not be stationed there, and the security of the route will be ensured by Armenia itself."

"These are statements made by Armenian officials, of course, we will also take the necessary precautionary measures," he emphasized.

It should be noted that on August 8, leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States signed a joint declaration in Washington, one provision of which states that the "Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity" (TRIPP) project will be implemented on the territory of the Republic of Armenia, connecting Azerbaijan to Nakhchivan via the Syunik region.
