Trump Promises Zelensky He Will Not Discuss Territorial Issues with Putin
U.S. President Donald Trump has promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that he will not discuss territorial issues during his upcoming meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, CNN reports citing their sources.
Trump made this announcement during an online conference with European leaders, which Zelensky also attended. According to sources from the publication, the U.S. President intends to achieve an unconditional ceasefire.
Additionally, some European leaders have got the impression that Trump is not approaching the meeting with Putin on a 'hopeful note.'
Earlier, Donald Trump stated that a peace agreement regarding Ukraine would include 'some exchange of territories,' and that Zelensky 'must be prepared to sign something.'
According to CNN, the American President has supported providing Ukraine with security guarantees, including those involving the United States. He also warned of 'very serious consequences' if Russia does not agree to a ceasefire.
