National Standards Must Be Competitive: Regulatory Body for Information Systems to Be Established

According to the "Cybersecurity Law," we define vital sectors and critical infrastructures in both the public and private sectors. Standards are established for risk and impact assessment, including the ISO 27,001 standard and other standards that must be ensured for companies operating civil infrastructures in the public sector, state apparatus, and private sector. This was stated by Minister of High-Tech Industry Hakob Hakobyan during today's government meeting.

“Of course, this does not exclude the idea that in the future we may abandon our national standards development and implementation; we simply need to ensure that those national standards are competitive compared to international standards and also align with our internal issues,” he said.

According to the minister, the new body, called the Regulatory Body for Information Systems, will have a commission whose members will be elected by the National Assembly. This body will also implement preventive measures, holding annual cyber drills. Its activities will be transparent, and the commission will present annual reports on cybersecurity to the National Assembly.
