Textbooks for Several Subjects Still Missing for Some Classes in Armenia

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia, Araksia Svajyan, stated during a press conference that, “I want to emphasize that for this year, in all classes where the standards will be implemented, as well as in those classes where the standards were introduced last year but textbooks were not published, the majority of competitions have taken place and textbooks have been printed.”

She noted that some of the textbooks have already been delivered and are currently in the distribution phase, while the rest will be delivered and distributed by August 25. However, she acknowledged that textbooks for certain subjects are still missing for some classes.

The missing textbooks include: Chemistry for 10th and 11th grades, Biology for 10th and 11th grades, Algebra for 11th grade, Russian for 11th grade, Initial Military Training for 9th and 11th grades, and French for 5th to 11th grades.

“In the specified classes, these subjects will be taught using old textbooks. The National Center for Educational Development and Innovation (NCEEI) will provide schools with additional guidelines and manuals to help apply the material in the old textbooks in a way that ensures compliance with the new standards,” Svajyan added.

She also mentioned that two additional textbooks for two subjects are unavailable for two classes, for which the competition has already been announced. These textbooks are for the subject of “Natural Sciences” for the 11th grade and for “History of Armenia” for the 10th and 11th grades.
