Russian Official Notes Different Emphases in Iranian Statements

The best way to resolve issues in the South Caucasus is by searching for and implementing solutions developed by the countries in the region with the support of their immediate neighbors, stated Alexey Fadeev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

“The involvement of external players should only contribute to strengthening the peace agenda, not create additional difficulties and dividing lines,” he said during a press briefing.

According to him, Russia maintains constant communication with Iran regarding security issues in the South Caucasus. Moscow has carefully studied the Iranian side's statements regarding the Washington summit of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and the United States, noting various nuances and emphases within those statements.
