Cable Under the Black Sea: Armenia Decides on Participation Format for Project

Armenia has determined an acceptable format for its participation in the energy cable project that runs under the Black Sea. This was confirmed by the response of the Ministry of Territorial Administration of the Republic of Armenia to a written inquiry from Sputnik Armenia.

The project of a subsea electricity cable connecting Azerbaijan and Romania through Georgia has been under discussion for several years, with Hungary possibly being added later. Official interest from Yerevan was only expressed at the end of October 2023.

The ministry emphasized that Armenia places great importance on the development of both bilateral and regional energy cooperation, especially in the context of infrastructure projects being implemented, such as the 400 kV power transmission lines in the directions of Armenia-Georgia and Armenia-Iran.

It was noted that the Armenian side has repeatedly expressed its interest in participating in the construction of the cable running from Georgia to Romania and has undertaken certain efforts in this direction, both technically and politically.
