The Real Price of Washington's 'Peace': Surenyants
The Real Price of Washington's 'Peace'
Winner #1 – 🇦🇿 Azerbaijan - Received international legitimization of the Zangezur corridor. The declaration clearly states: “...the uninterrupted communication between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic through the territory of the Republic of Armenia...” - And, most notably, by signing the declaration, he placed his name on the document for the operation of the Syunik road, which means that Aliyev de facto becomes the 'shareholder' of that road.
- Created a political basis for the final closure of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue: “...the inviolability of international borders... must never be subject to revision...” - Achieved a suspension of the US's Section 907, which allows Washington to provide direct military and financial aid to Baku,
- Recently signed a major oil deal with SOCAR-ExxonMobil, strengthening the energy alliance with the US,
- Received the more dangerous political promise: according to Aliyev, ‘The Armenian side itself has expressed a willingness to change the Constitution,’
Winner #2 – 🇺🇸 USA - Took control of the TRIPP corridor project: “The Republic of Armenia will work to define the scope for implementing the 'Trump Path' communication program...”
- Reduced the influence of Russia and Iran in the South Caucasus,
- Gained an international image and PR as a 'peacemaker' for Trump.
🇦🇲 Armenia - a short-term pause, but no systemic victory
- Avoided a new military escalation,
- Gained only investment promises and high-profile PR about becoming a 'transport hub' without any concrete guarantees or committed obligations,
- In real, vital matters such as the protection of security, territorial integrity, and sovereignty, there are no results. However, Armenia has not solved even the most urgent questions.
❌ There are no clear conditions for unblocking,
❌ Armenian prisoners held in Baku have not been returned,
❌ The de-occupation of certain territories of Armenia has not been carried out,
❌ And now, not only is there Azerbaijan's demand but also the obligation accepted by Yerevan to change the Constitution.
The content of the declaration and the statements of the parties indicate that Pashinyan agreed to provide a corridor to Azerbaijan for 99 years, recognized its territorial integrity without the possibility of revision, closed the international platform for the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, expressed a willingness to change the Constitution, and effectively made Aliyev a 'shareholder' of the Syunik road.
The result:
🇦🇿 Azerbaijan and 🇺🇸 the USA obtained clear and long-term strategic and economic benefits, strengthening their positions in the region.
🇦🇲 Armenia has a temporary breath but also new dependencies, limited sovereignty, and the danger of finding itself at a geopolitically explosive focal point.
It is natural that the anti-state and collaborating government is ecstatic, shamelessly exploiting the term 'sovereignty.' Meanwhile, all supporters of the Republic, regardless of political disagreements, must unite to launch an Independence movement.
