Presence of Inspectors in Transport Aimed at Intimidation, Says Council Member
The member of the Yerevan City Council from the "Mother Armenia" faction, Gevorg Stepanyan, stated on his Facebook page that the ruling party and the "Republic" are adopting a path that aims to intimidate the citizens. He emphasized that in 2023, the citizens rejected them, suffering a humiliating defeat in Yerevan and were not given a vote.
“Since yesterday, the so-called inspectors have entered the transport and, by frightening the citizens, are forcing them to pay for a transport system that remains unreformed and in a disgraceful condition; otherwise, we will fine you. No inspector will be able to implement this disgraceful project, as there are 12-meter-long buses in Yerevan, and these inspectors will not be able to enter the buses and check each one of you. This method is meant to intimidate,” he pointed out.
It should be noted that henceforth, the monitoring activities organized by the public order protection service in public transport will be carried out on a daily basis. Legal penalties will be applied for failure to pay the fare.
