Five Ukrainian Citizens on Georgia-Russia Border Declare Hunger Strike

Five Ukrainian citizens stranded at the Georgia-Russia border have declared a hunger strike, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. The Ukrainians have no specific demands from the Georgian side. “Their goal is to return home in a timely manner with the help of the Red Cross and the support of the Ukrainian embassy,” the agency stated.

It is noteworthy that since mid-June, approximately 80 Ukrainian citizens have been at the Upper Lars checkpoint at the border with the Russian Federation. Georgia has refused them entry due to criminal backgrounds and lack of documentation.
