U.S. Does Not Reckon with Loss of Sovereignty: Zakharova

The tightening of tariff restrictions by the United States against countries of the global South is a direct assault on the sovereignty of nations and an interference in their affairs. This was stated by Maria Zakharova, the official spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to TASS.

Zakharova pointed out that Washington is unable to reconcile with the loss of its supremacy in the emerging multipolar world order and continues to pursue a neo-colonial policy trying to maintain its positions by using political leverage of economic pressure against those who refuse to follow in its wake on the international stage.

“Such a U.S. policy is a direct infringement on the national sovereignty of states, an attempt to interfere in their internal affairs, not to mention the fact that it is overall fraught with economic slowdown, disruption of supply chains, and fragmentation of the global economy,” Zakharova emphasized.

According to her, Russia is ready to expand cooperation with countries in the South to counteract the pressure of illegal sanctions.

“We believe that no tariff wars or sanctions can do anything to halt the natural course of history. We have a vast number of partners, sympathizers, and allies who share this approach among countries of the global South, and primarily within BRICS,” added the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
