Armen Ashtoyan's Restraint Measure Changed: House Arrest and Bail
Armen Ashtoyan's restraint measure has been changed to house arrest and bail. A short while ago, presiding judge Vahe Dolmazyan decided to alter the restraint measure for the Vice President of the Republican Party of Armenia, Armen Ashtoyan. The judge stated, “The court finds that there has been a legal change in the restraint measure, and that change is relatively minor, therefore the court decides to change the detention measure against Armen Ashtoyan to combined alternative restraints, namely house arrest, with the place of residence being in the Kotayk region, at the address of Dzoraghbyur, Shinarar Street. Armen Ashtoyan is prohibited from communicating with other persons except for those living at the mentioned address and family members, and is also prohibited from communication and correspondence, with bail set at 25 million drams. As long as the bail is not paid, Armen Ashtoyan will remain in custody.
It is recalled that according to the Investigative Committee, former Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashtoyan is accused of abuse of official powers and money laundering, which has resulted in serious consequences.
