We are ready to help, but we refuse to sink together: Armen Ashotyan publishes an article

Armen Ashotyan, Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has published an article.

“The futile, pro-Nikol, and disgusting squabble within the opposition, despite the numerous vital ailments facing the state, not only does not cease, but is becoming increasingly low-level and repugnant day by day. A group that has become a ‘favorite’ as a result of a palace coup in the camp of the second president has for several months managed to fill the propaganda and agenda of Robert Kocharyan's team, pushing more weighty and prudent figures to the background.

Previously, with political discourse, a good human base, and a respectable bench of players, this camp now prefers to replace the promised stubborn struggle against the authorities with repugnant anti-campaigns against the Third President and the Republican Party, wasting the already limited resources of the opposition, diverting public attention from more urgent issues, deepening society’s disillusionment with all political figures, and thus, whether consciously or unconsciously, pouring water into Prime Minister Pashinyan's political calculations.

This behavior has nothing to do with morality or rationality. On one hand, the terror raging in the country, the impending last blow of the geopolitical auction, and the ongoing destruction of national institutions should leave no room for other agendas. On the other hand, the rearrangements in the political field, the formation of new and influential centers, and the fixation on maintaining the yellow jersey of the opposition leader at all costs should direct their energy and resources toward increasing their competitiveness.

It is no longer a secret that the visible priority of the second president is the preservation of capital in the political arena and its smooth transfer to his successor. However, both the anti-government diversions legitimized by him and the aforementioned internal political developments threaten the realization of these two strategic goals. If this continues, the ‘brain drain’ and outflow of resources from this camp to more competitive centers seems inevitable.

Figuratively speaking, if previously the ARF had a greater need for the second president, now that political vector is entering a reverse phase. Unlike us, our partners, who are clearly in a pre-election mindset, should be more concerned about all of this than the inexplicable and sickly fanaticism of the anti-campaigns being conducted against the Third President and the RPA.

Attempts to dictate a style of operation of ‘let’s sink together’ instead of ‘let’s work together’ are unacceptable for us. It is known that a drowning person, in their irregular movements and panic, sometimes tries to drag the person who has reached safety along with them. We are ready to help, but we refuse to sink together with you. The choice is yours, but we do not have much time.”
