The Price of Liquefied Gas Rises Due to Documented Logistics and Other Problems: CPC

The Competition Protection Commission has conducted a study indicating that there are no dominant players in the liquefied gas market, and the price increase is attributed to rising costs and supply-demand factors.

The study revealed that currently more than 170 entities are involved in the import of liquefied gas in the Republic of Armenia, with the largest importer holding a market share of no more than 7%. Furthermore, among more than 170 entities, only 9 have an import volume of 3% or more.

It was also found that the price hike observed in July 2025 was caused by several factors: the increase in the acquisition cost of liquefied gas, logistics issues recorded in Georgia, congestion at the borders due to seasonal demand causing limited entry of cargo vehicles into Armenia, and a surge in demand that exceeded supply.

Thus, the studies have demonstrated that there are no dominant entities in the liquefied gas market, and the price increase has been due to both rising costs and supply-demand dynamics in the market.
