Peskov Responds to Trump's Statement on BRICS

BRICS does not direct its activities against other countries and is not an anti-American organization. This statement was made by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.

“BRICS does not respond to threats. BRICS has never directed its activities against any country; it does not have such an objective. BRICS was created and is developing so that countries can cooperate in areas of mutual interest and benefit. This is the purpose of the organization,” Peskov told reporters.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that any country that supports BRICS's “anti-American” policies would be subject to an additional 10% customs duty. He added that BRICS is trying to undermine the dollar's status as the world's reserve currency.
