We Must Stop Searching for Our Homeland: Nikol Pashinyan

In a statement made at the National Assembly, I raised an issue that caused a stir. I mentioned that we need to reconsider our model of patriotism, as the way we love our homeland, or the perception of patriotism that we have, is not something we created ourselves; it has been imported by others. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a lecture of the "Education is Fashionable" movement, adding that we regard our country as a remnant of the homeland.

“There is a person on Russian television who, in pain, referred to us by saying 'Остаток Армении' (the Remnant of Armenia). This is simply proof of the thesis that has been constantly instilled in us, that we need a larger country,” says Pashinyan, reiterating the comparison between the concept of the 'real' and 'historical' Armenias. “We must stop searching for our homeland; this is the thesis of the 'real Armenia.'”
