UNICEF Office to Close in Azerbaijan
The UNICEF representative office in Azerbaijan will cease operations in the country starting September 3, 2025. UNICEF will continue its collaboration with Azerbaijani partners through its regional office and headquarters. This was announced by Irina Mazur, the regional director of UNICEF’s communications department for Europe and Central Asia.
On March 3, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated during a meeting with the regional director of the UN Coordinator’s office for Europe and Central Asia, Gui-Yeop Son, that further cooperation between Baku and several UN entities will continue through project-based collaboration mechanisms, aligned with national priorities, and will be implemented directly through their headquarters.
Earlier today, Bayramov met with Sajah Farouk Abdullah, the UNICEF representative in Azerbaijan, to mark the end of her diplomatic mission in the country.
