Shocking Situation in the Liquid Gas Sector: Garnik Danielyan
Opposition MP Garnik Danielyan made a post on his Facebook page regarding a statement made today by Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan on his Facebook page, claiming that the issue of cognac exports has been significantly resolved. “We are receiving alarming information that due to the current situation, producers have significantly reduced the volume of production and exports. Recently, I learned from a representative of a cognac-producing company that previously one truck loaded with cognac was sent to the border every day, whereas now the same quantity is being sent over the course of a month,” he stated.
According to him, data from the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Armenia also clearly shows a decrease in the export of cognac and alcoholic beverages compared to the previous year. “Moreover, the relevant authorities have not provided a comprehensive explanation as to what has caused the Georgian side to obstruct the export of Armenian cognac to Russia for months. The liquid gas sector is also in a shocking situation. While the entry of hundreds of trucks importing liquid gas from Russia through Georgian checkpoints into Armenia is being obstructed, we are witnessing its daily price increase. This is an extremely negative trend, the consequences of which will have irreversible effects on our economy,” Danielyan added. He noted that there are already statistics indicating that industrial production has decreased by 12% in the first half of 2025, while foreign trade has decreased by 45%.
