«Aravot» Newspaper to Be Evicted from Press Building

«Aravot» newspaper’s editorial office is set to be evicted from the Press Building. Since its establishment in 1994, «Aravot» has been located in this building for about 31 years.

This building belongs to the Property Management Committee, from which «Aravot» received a letter recently stating that they must vacate the premises. When the «Aravot» editorial office was established in the Press Building in 1994, the government of Hrant Bagratyan had provided media outlets with free-use spaces as a form of support.

This decision was not revoked by the subsequent governments of Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan, but it was only after 2018 that the current government decided to annul this resolution.

Auroranews contacted the editor-in-chief of «Aravot», Aram Abrahamyan. According to Abrahamyan, by government decision, no spaces are being provided for free anymore, and all spaces must now be rented at market prices.

Details were discussed over a phone call.
