Ukraine Receives Azerbaijani Gas for the First Time

The Ukrainian group of companies Naftogaz has signed its first agreement with SOCAR Energy Ukraine, the Azerbaijani state oil company. According to the company, this marks the first-ever trial delivery of Azerbaijani gas via the Trans-Balkan route through the Bulgaria-Romania-Ukraine corridor.

“This is a small volume but a strategically important step that opens the way for long-term cooperation. It also serves as another example of diversifying supply sources and strengthening Ukraine's energy security,” commented Sergey Koretskin, CEO of Naftogaz.
