Georgia Buys More Russian Gas Than Azerbaijani for the First Time in History

Gas imports from Azerbaijan to Georgia have decreased by 8%, while supplies from Russia have increased by 26%, Georgian media report.
According to their data, in the first half of 2025 the total volume of gas purchases reached $226 million, which is 6% higher than the same period last year.
For the first time in history, the volume of imported Russian gas has surpassed that of Azerbaijani supplies.
Thus, in the first six months of 2025, Georgia imported 1.1 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas, which is 0.2 billion cubic meters or 18.2% less than in the same period of 2024.
