Vardavar Celebrated in Armenia
Today, Vardavar is celebrated in Armenia, marking the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ. This feast is the third of the five major Armenian Church feasts and is commonly known as "Vardavar."
During this festival, one of the popular customs is to splash water on one another and release doves, symbolizing the flood, the salvation of Noah's family, and Noah's dove. Another tradition involves adorning oneself with flowers, which expresses great joy in honor of the divine manifestation.
The name "Vardavar" likely originates from the custom of pouring rose water.
