UN to Support Palestinians in Nation-Building Efforts

The United Nations is ready to support the Palestinians in their nation-building efforts, announced UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk in a statement.

"We are prepared to assist the Palestinians in nation-building, grounded in human rights and the rule of law. When the time comes, programs for victims and support for those affected will be crucial tools in paving the way for accountability and compensation," the statement reads.

In May, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney jointly declared that their governments are 'determined' to recognize the state of Palestine and are ready to collaborate with others to make the 'two-state solution' a reality. On Thursday, Macron announced that France will officially recognize the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly in September.
